Vote 1 Russell Wattie. In the senate.
Fighting for the rights of all Motorcyclists, Road Transport Operators, Farmers, Small Businessmen, and in general those who believe that it is past time that the common man finally had a true representative in Canberra. We need, · Genuine Australian wide one set of road laws with one interpretation. We live in one country, not six sovereign states · A real enquiry into the safety of Wire Rope Barriers for all road users Australia wide, they are like a plague. · Transport operators need to be recognised for the outstanding and often difficult job they do, with a fair return on investment. · Farmers need to be guaranteed the right to farm won’t be affected without just compensation, no being overrun by the miners ripping the heart out of quality farming land. · Prison Reform all the majors want to increase punishment, because that’s what they think we want. What we need is Rehabilitation that works. We have one of the highest reoffending rates in the world this needs to be reduced. Stop reoffending should be the number 1 priority of all law and order campaigners. · Small Businesses as a group are the largest single employer group, they need to be looked after by Government not ignored.
Written and Authorised by Russell Wattie 1102 Bauple Drive Tiaro QLD...............................................................................................2010-07-26Policy ReleasePrison ReformThere has been a lot of media focus this last week on my Criminal past, well it is just that and I would like to see if we can, in the word of Julia Gillard, move forward. Over the last week whilst travelling around, I’ve had a few people like all the policies I have put out in my vote flyer, but they have raised the issue of the prison reform as not wanted. In every case once I have explained my thoughts on the problems within our prison system & my suggestions for a way of fixing the problem that hasn’t been attempted in Australia the person’s attitude to my prison reform agenda turns around and they agree that we need Prison reform. The single biggest problem with our prison system is the high percentage of inmates in for Drug related crime. If we lock prisoners up with drug addiction problems and, do nothing more than maintain their addiction by giving Methadone without looking at the reason behind the addiction, then all we get is a revolving door prison system. The drug addicts within the system need to be assessed and allocated treatment that is appropriate, to their circumstance. If the reason for the addiction is not addressed then the addiction cannot be cured. Is there a government in Australia that is prepared to address this problem with a serious intention to fix it? There is not a difficult answer to this issue, just fix it. If people think I am over simplifying this that is probably true, by breaking it down to the core problem is the start of working out the solution. Clearly there is substantial detail that needs to be worked out, but I am certain that there have been more than enough studies, if not here in Australia certainly overseas. If that is the case we do not need to waste taxpayer dollars duplicating studies we just need to make that bold step that it appears no politician is brave enough to take. It is too easy to authorise minor changes, and avoid the big decisions, in case the big decision is wrong. Does anyone out there honestly think, to keep sending drug addicts back out into the community that have not been rehabilitated, is the right thing to do? So long as the health issues behind addiction are not dealt with, the criminal results of addiction will never go away. Do we want to fix this? Or do we just want to keep having the lives of Australians disrupted by the same criminals in the revolving door system we have now? The victims of crime, the families of addict whose lives are turned upside down, when a family member is incarcerated, the cost to the community of not dealing with this problem just grows and grows. If you want answers in Canberra then Pastor John and myself with our life experiences between us we can provide them. Do the mainstream parties want help to fix our system, or are they prepared to just let Australia rot while the dither around with political point scoring? For those who don’t know of Mama Renes, they provide help to the Homeless and Disadvantaged Men & Women of Brisbane and Surrounding areas. I was so happy to have Pastor John rise to the challenge to run for senate. Pastor John is passionate about his ministry and seeing the downtrodden and unfortunate of this country get support and assistance to get back on their feet. His life experience will be such a bonus to the good governance of Australia, the compassion and feeling for those in the community that need help. The opportunity to have Pastor John stand beside me in this election campaign, has given my confidence a boost. To know that I have such a valued member of the community have faith in what I am trying to achieve for the good of the Australian people. What this obviously, frightening experience for Ronda shows is that if we continue to turn these low life’s out on to the street with no attempt at rehabilitation of their drug problem just allows the problem to continue and grow. I would like to offer my sympathies to Ms Birchmore for the experience that clearly should never have happened, and the event that my policy of actually treating drug addicts to try and end their cycle of crime, prison, addiction maintenance whilst inside, eventual release, and back to Crime. To feed the addiction that was maintained during their jail time via the Methadone program, just allows the cycle to continue. So long as we have weak politicians in Canberra that have not got the stomach for strong reform, the fear amongst politicians that they may cop some bad publicity for a program of major change that may not work, shows their lack of moral fibre to do the job we put them in to Canberra for. The fact is their lack of real life experience is behind this weak hearted failure to the Australian people. If the major parties are afraid to be the voice behind major change, I will willingly stand up and be counted where they are not. If the major parties won’t see past the next election for the good of Australia, Queenslanders need to vote en masse for someone with the strength of caricature to make the hard decisions. Myself and Pastor John Dowell have that strength to stand up for the good of the Australian people, and we make a promise to the people of Queensland that we will stand up to these weak politicians that won’t do what is right and good for Australia. N.S.W. & QLD. There is the major flaw in these laws is that members with no criminal record can be turned into criminals just by the people they stand beside at a bar, the people they ride beside on a run, based on secret evidence that the accused ‘organisation’ has no legal right to see and this evidence does not have to meet the recognised rules of judicial scrutiny. This evidence can be based on hearsay upon hearsay; Some State Governments have ignored the rule of law in introducing these laws. Michael Atkinson in S.A. after the S.A. Supreme Court struck out the SOCCA laws Michael Atkinson stated to the affect that, ‘We knew these laws were unconstitutional “but we thought we’d give them a go anyway’” When Politian’s are prepared to waste the courts time knowing that they are working outside the rule of law, I ask the question, What has this country come to when our elected officials are prepared to write laws that do not comply with the ‘rule of Law’ KNOWING that is what they are doing? You have to ask is there no punishment for a Politian for wasting public funds and time? In 1984 the Electoral Act was change to let politicians knowingly lie during an election campaign, they are not libel for promising something knowing they can not deliver or have no intention of delivering. Three times there has been a move to reinstate these laws, yet every time the politicians have resisted the reintroduction of these laws. THEY WANT TO BE ABLE TO LIE TO YOU THE ELECTOR. The fact is to target groups of Australians, is against the core beliefs of both the Liberal Party and the Australian Labor Party. Both parties have as one of their core beliefs as “Freedom of Association”. When there are laws that already give the Police the powers to deal with crime, when you have civil libertarians and Police prosecutors say these laws are wrong, the question is. Why do politicians continue to bring in laws that the Crime and Misconduct Commission in QLD said run the risk of increased police corruption? We need logical debate about these laws, the Federal Government had a senate inquiry in 2008 about these Serious and Organised Crime Laws, though the core recommendations indicated that these laws were wrong the final statement suggested following through with them. Why waste money on an enquiry when you’re just going to do as you please? With existing law already in place to handle crime adequately, before these S.A., N.S.W. & QLD laws were introduced with little regard to the advice of experts, why do Police & Politicians want laws to ban association, that do not restrict the laws to motorcycle clubs as they would have you believe. There is nothing in these laws that mention Motorcycle Clubs, NOT ONCE. These laws are for all Australians, do not trust a Politician. They won’t change the law so they can legally lie to you remember. Written and Authorised by Russell Wattie 1102 Bauple Drive Tiaro QLD 4650 .............................................................................2010-08-02Media StatementPolicy on Farm Security The right to farm should be an assured thing, any famer who has to endure a mining company coming on to his property and exploring for resources should have the minimum of disruption to his farming operation as is possible, and be compensated justly for that disruption. Then in the event that the exploration extend to actual mining activity the farmer should be entitled to just compensation, this should take into consideration all aspects of the affect on the farmer not just to be paid for his land and sent from it. Just last week I meet a farmer, or should I say ex-farmer, who 4 years ago lost the farm that he grew up on, that had been in his family for 128 years, we didn’t go into the reasons it was lost, the sense of loss that he felt and the lack of direction in his life had seen him in a bad state within himself. Fortunately having that farming strength of caricature he has found new interests and running a small business keeps him occupied and happy now, but it’s still not farming. This situation must strike farmers every time they have to leave the farm because a mining operation has stepped in and the law gives them right of way. This loss is hard to quantify, but the farmer should be entitled to some fair and just compensation for this aspect not just the sale price of his land. Australian farmers are amongst the most efficient farmers in the world, yet still have to compete in an uneven marketing field. Our grain growers have to compete against countries that subsidise their grain producers, our Pork producers the same. No doubt the list is endless. A few years back we had tariffs and subsidies removed ‘to create a level playing field’. Well it would be level if every other country did the same, but that has not happened. So our farmers have had to carry the brunt of a ‘noble’ policy that can only work if every country in the world has the same policy. We have bravely led the way, but, no one follows. So our farmers suffer at the hands of their own Government, again. Tariffs should be reintroduced to offset the subsidies that farmers from other countries are paid. Especially where, our producers are competing directly, against imports into Australia or our traditional markets. If there is not a direct competing import of the same product from that country, then tariff some other product from that country and tell them this tariff is to even up for your subsidy on product X that our farmers have to compete with your farmers in our traditional markets. The ‘level playing field’ is a grand and noble ideal, but if we are the only ones with no Tariffs or Subsidies then it is not a level playing field. For our farmers economic health this needs to be addressed. Julia Gillard has announced a policy of tieing school attendance to sport participation on the weekend. You are joking right, Julia? Have you not heard of the childhood obesity problem? We need to be encouraging children to participate in sport not deprive them of sport. This policy just shows how much out of touch with reality Julia Gillard is and having no children of her own she is unable to pull her minders and string pullers up and say as a parent “This policy is wrong. Go away and come up with something better.” Come on Labor surly you can do better than this rubbish. Policy like this shows Australian Labor Party is not fit to Govern.
